Deploy ON vs Railway

Both take Git to a container URL. Railway meters RAM, CPU, disk, and egress. Deploy ON sells a monthly quota in GEL.

Price for the same app

Shop API. A small always-on Node.js API plus PostgreSQL. One custom domain, HTTPS, about 512 MB of RAM for the app, a small Postgres instance, and low traffic. Not a serverless frontend-only site.

Deploy ON

50 ₾ / month

~$18.5

Application plan. Managed Postgres is a separate package — we do not pretend it is free inside the 50 ₾.

Railway

~$18–30 / month

$18–30

Usage is the bill. The $5 Hobby or $20 Pro fee is a minimum that already counts toward usage.

A 512 MB app that holds that RAM all month is about $5. A quiet 0.15 vCPU is about $3. A 1 GB RAM Postgres is about $10. A 1 GB volume is $0.15. That is roughly $18 of usage before egress. Hobby includes $5 of that; Pro includes $20. The invoice is usually the usage number, not $5 plus usage.

List prices as of October 2026. Deploy ON in ₾; others in USD. FX used only as a hint: 1 USD ≈ 2.7 GEL. Sources: Railway pricing, Deploy ON plans.

Side by side

Topic Deploy ON Railway
Billing Fixed monthly package in ₾. Idle time is already paid for. Usage: $10/GB RAM-month, $20/vCPU-month, $0.15/GB volume, $0.05/GB egress.
Runtime Long-running containers on Deploy ON Kubernetes in Georgia. Containers on Railway Metal / regions. Scales with what the process actually holds.
Databases Managed Postgres, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB as a separate package. First-class plugins, including HA options. Billed as more usage.
Build Railpack / Nixpacks / Dockerfile. Railpack / Dockerfile. Large template marketplace.
Domains Platform host, custom domains, hosted DNS (ns1/ns2). Custom domains and platform networking. No Deploy ON–style hosted DNS.
Regions Workloads in Georgia. No global edge network. Multiple regions. Better if users are far from the Caucasus.
Templates / agents A short list of preconfigured apps. Agent/MCP docs are early. Large template catalog and first-class agent / MCP docs.
API REST + OpenAPI. CLI on npm. GraphQL API and Railway CLI.
Compliance ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 via Proservice. Enterprise compliance on higher plans. Hobby/Pro are not ISO-labelled the same way.

Pick Railway when

  • You want a huge template catalog, agent workflows, or a region closer to the US or EU.
  • You are fine reading a usage invoice and setting a hard spend limit.
  • You need HA Postgres or very large volumes on a self-serve catalog.

Pick Deploy ON when

  • You want one GEL invoice that does not grow while the process sits idle.
  • Billing, support, and the cluster are with Proservice in Tbilisi.
  • You already buy hosting from Proservice and want the app next to that relationship.

What we are not claiming

Railway is a real product with more regions, a larger ecosystem, and (in several cases) a lower sticker at the smallest size. Deploy ON wins when you want a GEL quota, a Georgian operator, ISO 27001 / 27017 via Proservice, and a process that stays up next to a database. It does not win at global edge, preview URLs, or a public template marketplace.
